Freedom Needs a Soundtrack tells the story of moments when music shifted the world, and sparks the collective action needed to create new ones.

Thirty years ago, the Tibetan Freedom Concerts filled Golden Gate Park with a feeling people still talk about: Fans came for the music and left believing they could make change.

We need that energy again — for Tibet, for the U.S., for all of us.

Freedom Needs a Soundtrack is built for this moment. It launches June 15, 2026 — the 30th anniversary of the first concert — with a six-episode audio documentary tracing what happened before, during, and after the concerts: the risks in Tibet, the early failures, the breakthroughs that followed, and the movement that grew behind the scenes.

Around it, we’re rebuilding the cultural engine that powered the movement: music, gatherings, reel-power videos, limited-edition prints and merch, and a story-sharing hotline that pulls people in and moves them toward collective action.
